Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Keylor Navas has already ‘expressed his desire’ to join Nottingham Forest in January, according to L’Equipe.
The 36-year-old’s exit became inevitable after he was reduced to two appearances this season. He is behind Gianluigi Donnarumma at the Parc des Princes.
Nottingham Forest took note of his situation, and the prospect of moving to the Premier League has ‘seduced’ the stopper.
He wants to join Steve Cooper’s side in the winter market as this would allow him to start matches regularly, especially with Dean Henderson sidelined with an injury.
The Costa Rican’s desire prompted PSG and the Tricky Trees to enter into the negotiation phase of the operation. For now, he still belongs to the Paris club and will probably have to ‘wait for a few more hours’ for both clubs to agree on the terms of the transfer.
Navas joining Nottingham Forest in January would benefit all parties involved. He could have more game time and the English club can get a new goalkeeper.
The South American earns €9m gross per year and his exit would lighten PSG’s wage bill. It would also make Donnarumma ‘feel at ease’, even though he shares a good relationship with Navas.
