Unwanted by Frank Lampard at the start of the season, André Gomes was sent to Lille in France for the season.
The Portuguese is only there on loan, and while he has played well, it was always expected that he would return.
His wages were a big hurdle for the French side if they wanted to keep him permanently from Everton, and Jeunes Footeux in France now explain Lille are already preparing their life without him.
The man they have chosen to replace Gomes is Nabil Bentaleb, formerly of Tottenham, who currently plays for Angers SCO.
Widely seen as their best player, it’s said his profile could ‘clearly stick’ at Lille, ‘especially to compensate for a departure of André Gomes’, who is only loan from Everton.
With a similar profile to the Portuguese, he is ‘more accessible financially’ than the Everton man, which is exactly why the Ligue 1 side seem ready to move on from the ex-Barcelona player.
The 29-year-old has made 22 appearances in all competitions for Lille since his arrival, scoring one goal and assisting another two.
When he does return to Everton, it will be unlikely to see him add to his 100 appearances for the Toffees, unless Sean Dyche surprises everyone by saying he wants to keep him around.
