Nottingham Forest have been working on signing Juventus’ Douglas Luiz this summer.
Two days ago, we covered claims from Italy that the Reds are optimistic of concluding this operation.
On Tuesday, Tuttosport stated Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis called Juve general manager Damien Comolli to try and unblock the move for the 27-year-old.
A fresh report from Tuttosport provides the latest and their title says the Premier League side are ‘one step away’ from closing Luiz’s signing.
Within the report, Tuttosport state the midfielder is ‘increasingly close’ to Nottingham Forest.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side will sign the Brazil international on loan with a conditional obligation to buy set at €30m. These conditions are relatively easy to achieve, meaning the temporary move will eventually be made permanent.
Luiz is said to have agreed a contract until 2030 with Nottingham Forest, worth €5m per year plus bonuses.
A year ago, the South American left Aston Villa for Juventus and struggled in his debut season in Italy. Igor Tudor tried to give him another chance during the pre-season before the Old Lady decide to sanction a move.
Tuttosport say Luiz feels joining Nottingham Forest ‘could be the opportunity of a lifetime’. He’s ready to say goodbye to the Turin club, once they reach an agreement with the Reds.
Wednesday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport reports Luiz is ‘one step away’ from joining the English club.
The two clubs have reached an agreement for the formula [loan with an obligation to buy] but are yet to find an agreement on the figure.
Nottingham Forest are said to have proposed by the purchase obligation at €30m, while Comolli wants more. Gazzetta reports that in the last few hours, Nuno’s side have raised their offer, without reaching the €40m requested by Juve.
The newspaper states: ‘The deal is being worked on indefinitely, working on bonuses to reach a quick agreement. Luiz is simply waiting for the green light to leave and undergo the usual medical.’
Luiz’s move to Nottingham Forest will allow Juventus to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani.
Calciomercato.it report negotiations between Marinakis and Comolli are moving in the right direction. There’s confidence Luiz will end up at the Premier League side as they state he’s ‘expected in England in the coming days’ for a medical with the Reds.
Brazil’s Globo Esporte go a step further and report Luiz is a new Nottingham Forest player, after they agreed to pay €30m to Juve.
