Reports from the Portuguese media continue to bring details on the double defender deal between Manchester City and Benfica.
New claims come from TVI24 show Mais Transferências. They say there’s a ‘done deal’ for Ruben Dias to head to England, while Nicolas Otamendi goes to Lisbon.
Despite previous reports claiming Manchester City would pay €60m for the transfer, with another €5m or €10m in bonuses, Mais Transferências has a different look.
They say the deal is actually being done for an initial payment of €50m. However, the total cost of the operation could reach €80m.
That’s because they take the €50m, add €15m in possible bonuses, and say Nicolas Otamendi’s transfer is worth other €15m. That’s them clearly pushing to make it look better for the Eagles.
Mais Transferências claims that Ruben Dias should still be available for the league match against Moreirense on Saturday, then he’d travel to Manchester on Sunday.
Ruben Dias is a product of Benfica’s academy, and made his debut for the club back in 2017. He was protected by a release clause of €100m, and many fans are angry at the Eagles for not making more with his sale.
Considered one of the most important players in the squad, he’s a regular for the Portuguese national team.
