Sunderland’s Jeremain Lens talked to his country’s Fox Sports and confirmed he’s joining Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
Lens said: ”Tomorrow (Tuesday) I will undergo the medical examination. I do not expect any problems. I’m looking forward to it. It’s a nice transfer. Fenerbahçe is a great club and a great challenge.”
Lens also confirmed his close relationship fellow compatriot Dick Advocaat and said: ”I have a good relationship with Dick, but he also knows my qualities. It is not that he is doing me a favour.”
The Turkish media said earlier today that a transfer for the player had been agreed. Fenerbahce are expected to pay a loan fee, and it’s unlikely Lens will ever want to return to Sunderland.
Lens, who’ll be at Istanbul around 10pm UK time, also said about his time at Sunderland: “I did not play, wasn’t even on the bench. I just had a problem with the club. What? No idea. Sunderland would just love to get rid of me.”
