Sporting Club de Portugal striker Chermiti has finally travelled to England to complete a medical and sign for Everton.
That’s according to both Record and O Jogo, who say the ‘bureaucratic issues’ holding up the deal have now been resolved.
Everton have had a deal in place with Sporting for well over a week and had been expected to announce the move late last week, perhaps even before their Saturday friendly with Sporting at Goodison Park.
However, that has not been the case as several reports in Portugal explained that Chermiti had been delayed due to work permit issues.
Those have now been resolved, though, with Record and O Jogo stating that he has flown to England to undergo his medical examinations and finalise the transfer.
The latter state that the player has finally been given the ‘green light’ in the last few hours, receiving his work visa, which has allowed him to travel to Merseyside and undergo the ‘battery of medical tests’ required.
Their belief is that he ‘should be announced’ today and start his new life as an Everton player after eight years at Sporting.
O Jogo say the same, reporting that Chermiti will undergo various medical tests today and then finalise his move to Goodison Park.
They explain that the 19-year-old dealt with the final ‘bureaucratic issues’ around the move yesterday and then took a plane to Manchester at 8:15pm before travelling to Liverpool from there.
He’s expected to undergo his medical today before then signing his contract and, if Everton fans are lucky, finally be announced.
