On Monday we covered various reports from the Italian media, which explained Cristian Romero is edging towards signing for Tottenham.

Spurs have been seriously working on the transfer for over a week, and Monday’s claims stated the Premier League club had offered a €50m flat fee plus a further €7m in potential bonuses.

The bonuses were split into ones thought to be easily achievable, related to the defender making appearances, and ones which were considered harder, relating to Tottenham winning a trophy with Romero at the club.

Tuesday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport suggests things have advanced even further than that. They say the offer has now been ‘simplified’, relating to how the bonuses are made up.

According to Gazzetta, the bid now stands at €50m plus €5m, and presumably there’s been an agreement on a lower bonus figure but with all of it reasonably achievable.

Romero is said to be ‘eager’ for the move to happen, and Atalanta are ‘about to satisfy’ his wish and allow a move to the Premier League club.

The way Gazzetta present this, it seems the move will happen relatively quickly, unless any hurdles are thrown in the way.
