Lommel SK from Belgium and second division French side Troyes AC became the last two additions to the City Football Group this year. The group also own Premier League club Manchester City.

Caio Roque was one of the players to arrive at Lommel in the last window and he joined them from Brazilian side Flamengo.

The 18-year-old is regarded as a bright young talent and a handful of European clubs came forward to acquire his services in the summer. However, he snubbed them to join a club owned by the City owners.

Despite joining the second division Belgian club in September, the left-back is yet to make his debut for his new club. However, that hasn’t stopped him dreaming of joining the Citizens in the future.

Roque has given an interview to Het Belang van Limburg and when asked if he was surprised when the City Football Group showed interest, he said: “I didn’t see it as a surprise, because I work hard for it. I also had offers from Fenerbahçe, AC Milan and Fortaleza, but City was the strongest at the negotiating table.

“I am very excited about this new project and I hope one day to be a Manchester City player too.”

The teenager is aware he needs to impress at Lommel if he is to fulfil his dream of playing in the Premier League.

“My thoughts are now completely focused on Lommel SK. I first have to succeed here and only then can I think about the next big step such as the Premier League. It is my dream to play there one day, but first everything step by step.”

The young defender also revealed how a City doctor travelled to Brazil for his medical before joining Lommel.

“A doctor from Manchester City came to Rio de Janeiro. The medical examination took a total of two to three days. Then I had to wait another five days to fly to Belgium,” Roque explained.
