Manchester United were reportedly one of the clubs to show interest in Atalanta’s Éderson in the winter market, as multiple Premier League clubs were linked.

Last month, Goal Brasil reported the Red Devils had contacted the midfielder’s entourage to know the conditions needed to take him away from the Serie A side. Barcelona were also named as a contender and it all looked like an effort to hype his value.

Globo Esporte have interviewed the 24-year-old and specifically asked him about the reports linking him to Manchester United and the La Liga side.

This season, the Brazilian has been one of the key players under Gian Piero Gasperini, scoring six goals and registering an assist from 30 games. Éderson believes his displays have resulted in interest from other clubs and has left his agent to take care of his future.

“I think this time, because it was perhaps one of the best moments of my career, and being at Atalanta today, it really boosted me,” he said.

“It’s something players talk about a lot, but it’s something I really learned, to leave it to my agents and then pass it on to me. Otherwise, you are creating unnecessary expectations. Many things begin to appear in the window and you don’t know what is true, what’s a lie, what could be happening. This is more of a hindrance than a help.

“So, I always leave it to them, the moment they say: ‘They’re interested, it’s official, it’s this, that’, then yes, I start to think. From the beginning, I said this isn’t the time. We are doing very well in the league, we are in the Coppa Italia semi-final.”

The player isn’t aware if there was anything concrete from Manchester United or Barca in the last window.

“I don’t know how true it was. I never actually asked. If it were something very, very concrete, then the club would pass it on to us, because we have a good relationship with them,” Éderson explained.

“What I said was that I wanted to focus on this moment, because it’s a very important moment for the club, it’s being very good for me too.”

Manchester United are still said to be chasing the Brazilian if a fresh report from Gazzetta dello Sport is to be believed.

It’s claimed Erik ten Hag’s side are one of the clubs to have ‘asked for information’ about the player. The report adds Éderson’s starting price is set at €40m and La Dea have no intention to negotiate his sale for less than that.

Along with Manchester United, there are four other Premier League sides in the picture to sign the South American in the summer.
