After achieving promotion to the Premier League, Nottingham Forest were very active in the last window, making 22 new additions to the squad.
Remo Freuler was one of the players to arrive at the City Ground and he joined the Tricky Trees after spending more than six seasons at Atalanta.
The Switzerland international is currently with the national team and that gave him an opportunity for the local press to have a chat with him. SRF have relayed his quotes and the 30-year-old has detailed the reason for joining Nottingham Forest in the summer.
“It was about being able to have a new experience again. You don’t know when the chance to play in what is currently the best league in the world will come again,” he said.
The midfielder has made four appearances in the league this term and is yet to taste a victory with his new club. With a win and a draw from seven matches, Nottingham Forest are 19th in the table, two points behind 17th placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.
SRF believe the idea the English club’s summer business is to be blamed for the poor start to the season is ‘not entirely absurd’ and it’s suggested Freuler agrees with it.
“I thought I was the newcomer to the team. But it was actually like that for everyone. It will take some time, but it can be good,” Freuler added.
