Aston Villa have made firm efforts in their pursuit of Galatasaray’s Nicolò Zaniolo, according to multiple reports.
AS state Unai Emery has urged the Villans to make an improved offer for the winger after their 5-1 defeat to Newcastle United in the first league tie.
Aston Villa are working to sign the 24-year-old on a loan deal and their new offer includes a €5m loan fee plus a mandatory purchase option of €20m plus €7m bonuses.
It’s claimed the Turkish champions haven’t given approval but the proposal seems to have convinced their board.
Emery particularly requested the Premier League side sign the Italy international, who can operate on the wings or as an attacking midfielder, because his versatility is appreciated by the Aston Villa manager.
This is covered by AS’ Turkish correspondent Özgür Sancar, who could have received the information from the Istanbul club.
Sport Mediaset state Zaniolo is ‘one step away’ from the English club after Galatasaray ‘accepted’ their offer.
It’s claimed Aston Villa’s offer includes €3m loan fee plus a ‘possible redemption’ of €27m [€20m plus €7m bonuses]. They add the player has also ‘found an agreement’ with them.
Aston Villa director Monchi has convinced the former AS Roma man and this was enough for him to ‘cancel the Juventus hypothesis’.
They end the report by stating the operation is ‘now just a matter of details, the last ones before making the deal official.’
