Sevilla and Sunderland made attempts to sign Brighton & Hove Albion’s Julio Enciso in the winter market, according to a report from Paraguay.

The 19-year-old joined the Seagulls last summer and clocked in 339 minutes from eight games this season. He is still waiting for his first start with Brighton.

Sevilla and Sunderland wanted to help the forward improve his situation by taking him on loan until the end of this season. That’s according to La Nación’s European correspondent, Christian Martin.

Both the La Liga side and the Black Cats were willing to offer the Paraguay international regular game time, which has not been made available to him so far at Brighton.

Enciso did not entertain the approaches made by Sevilla and Sunderland. He has ‘decided to stay’ at The Amex and ‘fight’ to have more prominence under Roberto De Zerbi’s orders.

Since the World Cup, the South American has made four appearances in all competitions. Time will tell whether the player’s decision to finish the season at Brighton will pay off.
