Since the Brazilian media reported that Carlos Miguel is leaving Corinthians for Nottingham Forest, there’s been some anger from fans.

The reason is that the goalkeeper had just become a starter at the club, with their legend Cássio being pushed out for it, and now he chooses to walk away to the City Ground.

As journalist Jorge Nicola today shares a piece on the situation, he reveals an interesting story about what happened between the goalkeepers.

It’s claimed that Cássio is actually quite upset with the way Carlos Miguel managed to take his position in the team.

Cássio is a club legend, having spent 12 years there, winning many titles, including the Copa Libertadores and the Club World Cup in 2012.

He’d been in bad form, though, and according to Nicola, Carlos Miguel used that as an opportunity to put pressure on the board to give him a chance, threatening to leave the club if he continued being a reserve.

That’s one of the reasons Cassio was sent to the bench, and not used to that situation, he ended up getting a transfer to Cruzeiro.

Right after that, Nottingham Forest showed up willing to pay for Carlos Miguel’s release clause, and he’s reportedly accepting that move.

That’s only making him hated at the club, with Nicola claiming Cassio also holds some bitter feelings towards him.

Carlos Miguel played for Corinthians last night, but is expected to be announced by Nottingham Forest soon.
