Rennes forward Jérémy Doku remains ‘in Liverpool’s sights’ this summer after years of the Reds following him.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who say the Belgian forward is still ‘attractive’ to sides outside of France and Liverpool are one of them.
The Reds have long been linked with a move for Doku, who they’ve been following since he was a youngster and came close to signing in 2017.
That move never happened, but they’ve continued to be linked with a move ever since, with it even claimed in October last year that they have ‘never stopped thinking’ about the player.
L’Equipe insist that remains the case despite him only managing 16 goals in three season with Rennes and while that is ‘surprising interest’ at first, it is actually due to one thing; Doku is ‘one of the best dribblers’ in the world.
The player is ‘difficult to stop’ and it is because of that he is ‘being courted by Liverpool’ despite his relatively poor numbers.
Furthermore, there is a belief that his future at Rennes ‘is not assured’, or in other words, he’s not absolutely guaranteed to stay with the French side.
Whether that means he is on the move to Anfield is up for debate, especially given they have numerous forward options already at their disposal and need to spend their money elsewhere this summer.
The interest remains, though, and as with every summer, it seems Doku is a name to keep an eye on in the Liverpool transfer rumour mill.
