Antonio Nusa to Tottenham Hotspur burst on the scene like a transfer which would be completed within 24 hours. The Belgian media put out huge claims about a €30m move to Spurs being pretty much agreed and it felt like the player would imminently be travelling to London.
That was of course all over a week ago, and if anything the story has gone backwards since the original claims, because there wasn’t much room to go in the forward direction.
It’s similar to the end of the summer window, when Chelsea made an attempt to sign Nusa, and the effort for the Club Brugge seemed to be all over the Belgian media after initial approaches.
Someone, clearly, likes leaking stories around Nusa’s potential Club Brugge exit as soon as possible.
Anyway, whilst everything has been dampened somewhat talks are thought to have continued over the past week and there’s been confidence Tottenham will eventually agree a deal.
There’s been little snippets on a daily basis, such as HLN saying on Saturday night that Nusa is ‘on course’ for the move to Spurs.
Perhaps more strikingly, he started on the bench for Club Brugge as they beat Charleroi 4-1, same as with the last match against Westerlo.
He came on at 80 minutes, with his side winning 4-0, and was able to stretch his legs a little.
