On Monday, we covered claims from Belgium which stated Blackburn Rovers have reached an agreement with RWD Molenbeek over signing Makhtar Gueye this summer.
This is now backed up Foot Mercato, and their title says the 26-year-old is ‘on course to join’ Blackburn Rovers.
Within the report, it’s claimed the Championship side are very close to securing the striker’s services.
John Eustace’s side are currently one step away from bringing the player to Ewood Park and the deal should be made official in the ‘coming days’.
Last season, RWD Molenbeek were relegated from the top division in Belgium. They have started preparations for next season and will have a pre-season camp in the Netherlands for the next three days.
That’s according to Het Nieuwsblad, who state Gueye will not be part of the squad that will travel to Wageningen.
They add it’s no longer a secret that the player will leave the Belgian club in this window, which is why he won’t be training with the rest of the squad.
Het Nieuwsblad make no mention of his next destination, but it’s set to be Blackburn Rovers according to Foot Mercato.
