Southampton could offer Benfica midfielder João Mário a way out of the Portuguese club as he faces criticism from their fans.
That’s according to Record, who cover the situation around the midfielder today and how he has proposals from Flamengo and Southampton.
The newspaper explains that Mário is set to be out of the game against Estrela da Amadora, with the midfielder and the coach having spoken about his absence and decided on it.
He was whistled off the pitch in their last game and responded by applauding ironically, something which did not go down well. At the end of the game, he headed straight to the locker room.
A possible departure is being considered by the player, although it has nothing to do with the exclusion from today’s game.
Record say Mario is ‘considering offers’ from Flamengo and Southampton after being approached by Galatasaray.
