Spanish newspaper Sport somehow reckon they know the inside story on Axel Witsel moving to Juventus this summer.
In their Sunday edition, it’s claimed the Belgian midfielder is finally set to leave Zenit, after more than a handful of collapsed deals over the past couple of years.
Those collapsed deals have mainly been with English and Italian clubs, and quite often seemed to be figments of someone’s imagination.
Witsel is to move to Turin, say Sport, to be a direct replacement for Manchester United bound Paul Pogba, despite the two being very different players.
Sport claim that Witsel has chosen Juventus, and already communicated this decision to Liverpool and Everton. The Belgian preferred to play football in Italy, and seems to have finally found a club willing to pay both his fee and his high wages.
Given how many transfer claims have surrounded Witsel in the past, it’s no surprise to see subsequent claims that teams have lost out.
