Over the past few weeks, the Brazilian media have reported Chelsea are keen to sign Sport Recife’s Pedro Lima in the summer window.
Two days ago, the right-back’s agent, Renato Guimarães, revealed that there has been progress made in the deal to take his client to the west London club.
L’Equipe now bring the latest on Chelsea’s pursuit of the 17-year-old, and their plans for him. It’s explained that Lima is ‘very close to being recruited’ by the Premier League side.
They add the deal is unlikely to go through this month, but it’s expected to be completed once he turns 18-years-of-age on July 1st.
With the Blues edging closer towards securing a deal, the report indicates that the player won’t be part of Enzo Maresca’s plans next season.
L’Equipe say the Premier League side’s idea is to sign him and then immediately send him out on loan to RC Strasbourg. They further add that the French club are waiting to find out when the Brazilian will join them.
Sport Recife promoted Lima to their first team earlier this year, and he played 26 games for them.
