Joel Robles, whose Everton contract expires at the end of June, is ‘very close’ to signing for Getafe, report Caden Ser, via Marca.

The Spaniard has been linked with a string of clubs in Spain but it’s usually to arrive as a second choice, now it looks like a rather more attractive deal should be done soon.

In and out of the team at Everton, Robles has had admirers in his home country in recent years but there’s never appeared to be a great rush to sign him and make him first choice goalkeeper.

That could be changing, with it being claimed in Spain that Getafe see him as ‘the chosen one’ to replace Vicente Guiata. With his own contract expiring this month, Guaita is set to move to Crystal Palace, although there has been some contradicting claims about his future.

Robles will certainly have a big task on his hands to replace Guaita, who has been very highly rated in Spain and done a very good job for Getafe.

The Spanish club haven’t wanted to see the back of their stopper, and blocked a move in the winter transfer window, willing to lose the money from a transfer fee rather than sell the player early.
