Nottingham Forest missed out on a deadline day move for Anderlecht’s Hendrik Van Crombrugge, with the player turning down the offer.

That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, who say the player decided against the move to the Premier League side.

Nottingham Forest were on the hunt for a goalkeeper after losing Dean Henderson to injury and eventually managed to arrange a loan deal for PSG veteran Keylor Navas.

Before that they had been linked to several goalkeepers around Europe and it seems Van Crombrugge is another name to add to the list.

HLN report that he ‘had the chance’ to join Nottingham Forest on deadline day of the January transfer window but he ‘eventually turned down’ the offer from Steve Cooper’s side.

Anderlecht were open to a departure for their former captain as they would have been relieved of his ‘hefty salary’ but the 29-year-old elected to stay where he was and remain a ‘good earning substitute’ instead.

All worked out well as Nottingham Forest secured Navas’ signature, with the hope his experience can now help to cover for Henderson’s absence and their fight against relegation.
