It’s absolutely no surprise that all Portuguese papers today have big stories on the future of Cristiano Ronaldo.
But it turns out that few outlets actually managed to get some information on what could happen to the 37-year-old in the coming weeks. One of them is Record, who claims that Newcastle United are those who lead the race for his signing.
It’s claimed that the Magpies are the ‘likely destination’ for Cristiano Ronaldo, especially because there’s nothing stopping him from staying in the Premier League. The report also mentions the ‘appeal’ from the Saudi market, with whom the player already ‘established negotiations’.
Record even claims there’s also some competition from Chelsea, with club owner Todd Boehly recently speaking to him about bringing him to the Stamford Bridge. Still, it’s made clear that Newcastle are leading the race.
That information is also shared today by the Italian media, with newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport claiming Ronaldo is ‘carefully analysing’ the Magpies’ offer.
It’s said the player didn’t want to join Newcastle last summer because of the lack of a spot in the Champions League.
Now, however, they could offer him the chance of continuing featuring in the Premier League and even take ‘revenge’ against Manchester United.
Then he could ‘end his career’ at Al-Nassr, who share the same owners as the Magpies.
