Since agreeing a deal to join Manchester City in March, three months were needed before Yan Couto was able to move to the Premier League side.

The player has just turned 18 and the transfer window is now open, so he’s legally ready to pack his bags and leave Brazil.

The problem is that his transfer is now being blocked by the Coronavirus pandemic, as reported by Globo Esporte today.

Manchester City are said to be worried about the situation in Brazil, since the South American country has over 40 thousand deaths due to the disease.

“I still don’t have a date to go to City because of the pandemic, right? The English Premier League is coming back now, but there isn’t a date. I am always communicating with City’s representative in Brazil”, said Yan Couto.

“I’ll wait. I’m really looking forward to going there, doing a very good preseason and staying at the club.”

Globo Esporte says that the Premier League side expect things to look better by August. Meanwhile, player continues to train at his club Coritiba.

The report adds that Barcelona got close on signing the fullback, but Manchester City won the race by offering €6m for the transfer plus other €6m depending on performance bonuses.
