The Italian media can’t quite agree over what’s happening with Emerson Palmieri and a move to Chelsea, but there is widespread agreement that something is going on.
Earlier we covered today’s Gazzetta dello Sport take on it, which said Chelsea and AS Roma have agreed on a €25m fee but not the conditions for it to be paid.
Chelsea would prefer a loan with an option to pay the €25m at the end of the season, but Roma want the buying clause to be compulsory.
Calciomercato are rather more excited.
They claim Chelsea have offered €20m plus bonuses for Emerson and Roma are happy with it, but there’s still details to sort out about the bonus bit.
It’s still thought a deal can be done, with Calciomercato saying: ‘The success of the negotiation, however, does not seem in doubt.’
Emerson has been ‘pre-warned’ that he could leave for London either tomorrow or the day after with his agent to close the deal.
