Milan Škriniar is expected to leave Inter Milan for free in the summer and the Nerazzurri are searching the market for his replacement.
The option could come from the Premier League and ‘more precisely from Liverpool’, where Joël Matip has been identified as a target.
That’s according to InterLive.it, who state the Serie A side and their local rivals, AC Milan, are in the mix to sign the 31-year-old.
Matip’s contract runs down in 2024 and he could ‘prematurely say goodbye’ to Liverpool after this season. That’s mainly because of his current situation at Anfield.
The defender has been reduced to a substitute’s role since February, making four league appearances for the Reds. Therefore, he could ‘pack his bags’ and ‘say goodbye’ to Jürgen Klopp’s side at the end of this season.
It’s claimed the centre-back’s agent has offered him to clubs across Europe, including the two Italian teams. Both Inter and Milan could end up considering the possibility of signing him in the next window.
Milan could be ‘more interested’ than Inter, partly because Simon Kjær’s deal with the Rossoneri expires in 2024.
InterLive.it’s title states an ‘offer on the way’, and these two clubs are set to be in the mix to sign the defender, who is planning to leave Liverpool after this season.
