Wolverhampton Wanderers could be given their second shot at Borussia Monchengladbach’s Nico Elvedi in the summer, with him likely available for €10m.
That’s according to Rheinische Post, who cover the player today as part of a piece looking at those the German side can sell to raise much needed funds.
They explain that Gladbach are currently analysing their squad ahead of the summer transfer window, valuing various players as they look to ensure they get good fees for their better performers.
That is something they didn’t do in the past and have been stung by and want to ensure doesn’t happen again, with sales needed to raise funds for the squad to be shaped as they wish.
Elvedi is one of those who has drawn interest in the past and despite extending his contract to 2027 in the summer, still has a release clause.
He was willing to move in the summer and wanted to join Wolves but a deal ‘ultimately failed’ as the two sides couldn’t agree a fee for him.
The player has since signed that new deal, but it reportedly includes a release clause and the belief is he would be allowed to leave for around €10m.
With Gladbach looking to make money in the next window, that therefore gives Wolves their second shot at him should they want to revive their summer interest.
