Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz believes his performance against PSV Eindhoven was the “best match” he he’s had since moving from Aston Villa.
Gazzetta dello Sport cover comments from the Brazilian today in which he admits he’s hoping he’s turned a corner at the Italian club.
He joined them from Aston Villa in the summer as part of a big summer operation between the two clubs, with the Villans taking money and players in exchange to help balance their books.
Rather than establishing himself as a key player as he was for Aston Villa it’s been a rocky road for Douglas Luiz instead, with him failing to convince manager Thiago Motta or anyone at Juventus thus far.
He appeared to be back at his best this week, though, as Juventus saw off PSV Eindhoven with a 2-1 win in the Champions League.
And Gazzetta report after the game that it was “the best game here” for him following his move from Aston Villa in the summer.
The hope is that it will be the turning point of his time at Juventus and that he’s now overcome the misunderstandings and difficulties he initially found on and off the pitch in Turin. Difficulties he hadn’t suffered from at Aston Villa.
For now, his determination to turn down an exit in the January transfer window is paying off and the hope his career at Juventus is now on the right track.
