Following the news that Sampdoria were at risk of having some points deducted from their current tally due to unpaid wages, players got together to try and avoid that.

One of those was Emil Audero, their goalkeeper, who had the chance to sign for Nottingham Forest.

The player was linked with a move to City Ground after the injury to Dean Henderson, but the club eventually managed to bring in their number one target, which was Keylor Navas.

However, it appears it went further than that, according to La Repubblica, relayed by Club Doria 46, as he reportedly said ‘no to the transfer’ to Nottingham Forest.

Not only that, but Audero has managed to negotiate with Sampdoria a deal regarding those missing December payments that will absolve the Serie A side from any wrongdoing.

In essence, he and other players ‘have come to terms with the club, giving up the month of December (salary wise) and converting it into bonuses that will only be paid at the end of the season’.

The amount they would then get could then ‘vary according to the position in the rankings’.

Audero was said to be instrumental in getting the players together and agreeing to this, which is seen as an ‘important gesture’.

That means that after turning down the move to Nottingham Forest, he’s made another move ‘that will make him enter even more in the hearts of the fans’.
