If there’s one man who left Leicester City with a point to prove in January, it was Ayoze Pérez, who was loaned to Real Betis, as El Desmarque point out.
The forward was out of Brendan Rodgers’ plans at King Power Stadium, and with little to no game time on offer, he sought it elsewhere.
The Seville-based club came knocking, and while they couldn’t afford to buy him there and then, a deal was struck that saw the player head back to Spain for six months until his contract with Leicester expired.
Since arriving, he has been one of the better performers in the La Liga team, and has ‘become an irreplaceable piece’ in the plans of Manuel Pellegrini.
He has now started 10 games as a starter in a row, and is showing exactly what trust in a player can do to his form; something Brendan Rodgers perhaps should have given him before he was dismissed at Leicester.
The 29-year-old now boasts two goals and two assists in 12 games for the Spanish team, and will continue to hope to impress ahead of what could be the most important next step of his career: his final big contract.
