The Brazilian media continues to sound very confident that Matheus Martins will soon join Watford.
The insistence now comes from O Globo, who feature a story about Brazil’s latest U20 squad.
Speaking of Matheus Martins, the outlet writes that despite belonging to Fluminense, the attacker actually has his ‘bags packed to transfer to Watford’.
This is interesting because at no time does the newspaper give a mention to Udinese.
All initial reports regarding Martins’ departure from Fluminense claim that it’s Udinese who are buying him. It was the Brazilian media who claimed the Serie A side are loaning him to Watford, while reports from Italy took it more calmly, claiming there’s a possibility the player will end up at the Hornets for a spell.
According to recent updates, the 19-year-old was approved by both clubs after medicals, even though it’s Udinese who are spending €9m on the signing.
We’re still to see how long Martins will stay at Watford, as it’d be a little strange to see him loaned for only six months, since a Brazilian youngster going to England would clearly need a longer time for adaptation.
