Patrick Dorgu has been backed to give Lecce ‘the game of his life’ this evening before then heading to join Manchester United.

Pianeta Lecce journalist Vittorio Murra covers the defender today as he gears up for his last appearance in a Lecce shirt this evening.

A report earlier today stated that Manchester United’s deal for Dorgu is now completed, and he will be heading to England in the coming days after playing in his last game against Parma in Serie A on Friday night.

The game has been presented as his ‘last dance’ and something of a ‘farewell day’ before he then heads to Manchester United to complete his transfer this weekend.

Murra can see that being the case as well and has backed the defender to have the game of his life as he bids goodbye to the Italian club.

“The interests of Lecce, in my opinion, are now to make him play because we are a bit in an emergency,” he said on Twitch.

“I feel that Dorgu will make the performance of life and maybe from the left wing. In my opinion this game is easier for Dorgu than the one against Inter, because tonight he already knows that it is the last game.

“He could also play with his mind clear. Against Inter the negotiation was on the high seas so that it could have negative thoughts.”

Focus will then be on how Lecce can replace the defender, who has made himself a key player at Lecce’s since arriving from Nordsjaelland U19’s in 2023.

He’ll now be heading to Manchester United and hoping to provide Ruben Amorim with the wing-back that his current squad lacks.

The fact they’ve agreed a deal that could cost €40m shows their faith in him but also demonstrates how difficult replacing him will be for Lecce according to Murra.

“You cannot replace Dorgu with another Dorgu because you should spend forty million. You have to replace it with players from Lecce who could become Dorgu tomorrow,” he added.
