On Thursday, Eindhovens Dagblad journalist Rik Elfrink reported Liverpool have contacted Johan Bakayoko’s entourage to find out the conditions needed to sign the PSV Eindhoven player.
De Telegraaf mention Liverpool’s interest in the 20-year-old when explaining the possibility of the Eredivisie seeing some of their stars move elsewhere this summer.
It’s claimed the winger is aware that Liverpool are ‘serious about doing business’ with PSV to secure his services. However, the Reds making approach could depend on a key factor.
The report states Liverpool are thinking about the Belgium international as a successor to Mohamed Salah, who is negotiating with Al-Ittihad. It’s worth noting the Egyptian’s agent has already ruled out a move away from Anfield for his client.
Elfrink took to Twitter to explain that there has been no development yet on Bakayoko potentially joining the Merseyside club. He adds Liverpool have included the player in their target list but their interest is ‘latent’.
The journalist says the Dutch club are insisting the attacker is ‘not for sale’ and this would make it difficult for Liverpool to carry out the deal.
If Jürgen Klopp’s side are keen to sign Bakayoko, they’ll have to find a way to convince PSV.
Nog geen ontwikkeling rond Bakayoko, maar de interesse van Liverpool blijft latent. Hij staat daar op de lijst als er ontwikkelingen zijn en ook bij veel andere clubs. PSV hanteert nu nog altijd het 'not for sale'-principe.
