This week, Deivid Washington’s transfer from Santos to Chelsea seemed pretty much confirmed.
Club president Andrés Rueda gave an interview explains all the numbers involved, and the player posted a farewell message to the Brazilian side on Instagram.
It turns out that Deivid Washington then deleted the post, and that was more than enough to make a big noise on social media.
With the sale considered controversial, people wondered if the deal with Chelsea was off, and other exaggerated claims asked if the player may have failed his medical.
According to Sport Witness’ sources, there have been no setbacks, and the transfer is going through.
What happened is that since the deal wasn’t completed, Santos asked Deivid Washington to delete the post until official confirmation.
The striker has actually already landed in England and is expected to sign a long-term deal with Chelsea before the end of the week.
As confirmed by Rueda, the Blues are spending €16m on the signing, with another €4m in bonuses, which are considered easy to achieve.
Deivid Washington is the second Santos player signed by Chelsea this summer, as they also bought Angelo and loaned him out to Strasbourg.
