During the three and a half years that Diego Costa spent at Chelsea, the striker had many ups and downs, and was not always loved by the press and the technical staff.
Now as his period with the Blues was recalled by his former teammate Alexandre Pato, he reveals a very funny story about how to deal with the pressure at the club.
Pato was interviewed by Flow Sport Club, and in quotes brought by Portal do Gremista, he explained Costa’s advice to deal with it.
“When I arrived at Chelsea, Diego was the number 9. The press were criticising him, the fans were swearing and he was always calm. I asked him: ‘How do you cope with all this pressure?’ He replied: ‘Pato, I don’t understand anything. I don’t speak English’.”
Many people even forget that Pato once played for Chelsea, and there’s a fair reason for it.
He arrived at Stamford Bridge on a loan from Corinthians in January 2016, and only stayed in London until the end of that season. T
he striker only had a couple of opportunities to play for the Blues, and had one goal in two appearances, so it was no surprise they decided against his permanent transfer at the end of the spell.
Diego Costa, meanwhile, joined Chelsea in the summer of 2014 and stayed until January 2018, and besides the 59 goals and 23 assists in 120 appearances for the club, he also won a couple of Premier League titles.
