Arsenal have rekindled their interest in Manuel Locatelli, more than a year after he turned them down for Juventus.
On September 30th, Calciomercato reported the Serie A side are ready to sacrifice the 24-year-old and the Gunners want to make a new attempt to sign him.
Three days later, the same outlet stated that Arsenal have made contact over a move for the midfielder in January.
The former Sassuolo man continues to be a topic of discussion in the Italian media and the north London club are mentioned again.
According to Sport Mediaset, the Italy international is ‘always in Arsenal’s sights’ since he is not experiencing a ‘happy period’ at the Turin club under Massimiliano Allegri’s orders.
The English club want to strengthen their defensives midfield position in the next market as Mikel Arteta has Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka. Mohamed Elneny and Albert Sambi Lokonga are also available at the Emirates, but this isn’t mentioned.
According to the report ‘investment will be made in midfield’.
Juventus like the Belgium international, who is valued at €30m. A ‘possible exchange’ involving Lokonga and Locatelli could be on the cards. The latter not having a prominent role under Allegri and the ‘pressure of the Gunners’ could make him change his mind on staying at the club.
Arsenal like Locatelli so much that they are thinking of sacrificing Lokonga to secure his services.
