Atalanta have been keen on signing Celtic’s Matt O’Riley all summer, and are working to find an agreement with Brendan Rodgers’ side this summer.
The midfielder’s potential arrival depends on Teun Koopmeiners’ exit. That’s according to journalist Alfredo Pedullà, who adds La Dea will ‘soon open a new channel’ with Celtic.
Another Italian journalist, Gianluca Di Marzio, shares more on Atalanta’s pursuit of the Celtic star.
He says the 23-year-old has ‘already said yes’ to the Italian club, and has agreed a long-term contract. Celtic have already rejected two offers so far, but La Dea don’t want to give up.
Di Marzio claims the Europa League winners’ last proposal was €15m and they have made a third offer of €17m, possibly without bonuses. Intermediary Blash Hosseini is trying to close the gap between the two clubs, and there’s no mention of what asking price Celtic stand at right now.
That information is provided by Sky Italia, who say the Scottish champions are asking at least €25m for the Denmark international.
It’s to be noted Gazzetta dello Sport stated last week that Celtic have rejected Atalanta’s bid of €18m plus €3m plus bonuses for the Dane. It was also said Brendan Rodgers’ side want €27m including bonuses to sell him.
Taking this into account, the €17m fee proposed [as per Di Marzio] by Atalanta would be rejected by Celtic.
