It’s claimed the Croatia U21 international is waiting for the outcome of the final round of the negotiations between Régis Le Bris’ side and Red Bull Salzburg.

There’s expectation for the two clubs to find an agreement and when that happens, Šimić will have his medical beforehe signs a contract with the Championship side.

It’s likely to be a permanent transfer since there’s a talk of the player signing a deal with Sunderland. There’s no mention of the fee the English club are offering.

Red Bull Salzburg took Šimić from Lokomotiva Zagreb in 2021 and immediately sent him out on loan to Austrian side FC Liefering. He also had a short loan spell at FC Zürich in 2023.
