Atalanta striker Rasmus Højlund ‘has an agreement’ to join Manchester United, who are offering him a huge salary increase to move to Old Trafford.
That’s according to Corriere della Sera, who say the striker is conveniently in England as his replacement, El Bilal Toure, arrives in Atalanta for his medicals.
He will be the Italian side’s most expensive purchase and appears to have been signed with a view to replacing Hojlund, who is ‘ever closer to leaving Bergamo’.
The striker is stuck in an auction between Manchester United and PSG, with the French refusing to give up despite the Danish striker’s preference to join the Red Devils.
He already has an agreement in place with Manchester United on a salary worth €5m per year, eight times the €600,000 he currently earns. Atalanta, for their part, are said to be asking for a fee with a fixed price of €75m.
In the meantime, Højlund has flown to England but only to join his teammates for pre-season after they flew in to the UK for a clash with Bournemouth.
There’s no suggestion he’s planning any transfer business during his time in the country, but it certainly offers up an ideal and convenient opportunity for both parties.
Manchester United are pushing either way and, with an agreement already in place with the striker, one major step has already been completed.
