Feyenoord winger Igor Paixão has admitted he is well aware of reports linking him with a move to Liverpool this summer, but there isn’t anything concrete to them as yet.

The forward has been speaking to Ge Globo in Brazil about his career so far and the possibility of reuniting with Arne Slot at Anfield this summer.

The defender has been impressing for Feyenoord since joining them in a €4.5m deal from Coritiba in August 2022.

He’s managed a tally of 21 goals and ten assists in 82 games since that point, numbers that are more than enough to earn him attention from outside of the Netherlands.

Reports have linked him with a potential move to Liverpool this summer after Arne Slot made the move this year to replace Jurgen Klopp.

Paixão could be a potential replacement for Luis Diaz, who has been linked with a move away from Anfield this summer as the club plan to reshape the squad under a new regime headed up by Michael Edwards.

It seems those rumours haven’t gone unmissed by Paixão, who admits he’s sitting and watching with interest for the time being.

“I only see this on social media. (The fans) don’t want me to leave Feyenoord, but it’s not up to me. Together with my business owners and board, we will decide the best path forward,” he said.

“I am listening and watching social media. Lots of people always tagging me and asking: are you going to Liverpool? I don’t know anything, I’m just waiting. But Dutch football is pretty cool. Intensity is the big difference.

“He (Slot) also helped me with my arrival, with my evolution, and I had the feeling of helping him. Good thing everything went well. He did an exceptional job with our cast. I just have to thank him and wish him success at Liverpool. He will be missed, but he has to keep working.”
