Milliyet have today claimed Galatasaray are showing interest in Manchester United defender Raphael Varane ahead of the summer transfer window.
The France international could leave Old Trafford when his contract expires in June, with recent reports the club will not trigger the activation cause to keep him in Manchester for another season.
According to Milliyet, Varane is an option for Galatasaray as they look for a possible replacement for Davinson Sánchez. The Colombian international has impressed in his debut season for Gala which has led to reports of a potential move to clubs in Serie A and also Newcastle United.
Subsequently, the Super Lig side have turned their attention to Varane and Milliyet say it will be a ‘huge operation’ to sign the central defender. Milliyet report a €40m plus package could help Galatasaray land the Manchester United man, and could fund this with permanent exits such as Wilfried Zaha and Nicolo Zaniolo this summer.
Varane joined Manchester United from Real Madrid in 2021 but his time in England has been hampered by injury. This season the Frenchman has made just 21 Premier League appearances, and it seems the Premier League club may have run out of patience with him.
There’s obviously excitement in Turkey over the possibility of bringing such a star to the Super Lig.
