Paul Pogba’s transfer to Manchester United was huge news around the world. The story wasn’t just big in Europe, and it’s safely the most hyped transfer of this summer, and perhaps the past few.
Even in South America, Pogba to Manchester United was, and remains, a big deal. When Goal Brasil were speaking to Watford’s Heurelho Gomes, they asked him about his own club and situation, but made sure to get his view on the big summer story.
The reporter asked if Paul Pogba’s transfer to Manchester United was crazy, and the keeper agreed with the sentiment: “I think so, even if the clubs can afford to invest heavily. Manchester United can sign any player for any value, but I think that came a little out of the ordinary in football. But English football is like that anyway.”
Over at Manchester City, the signing of Gabriel Jesus gave Goal another thing to ask Gomes about. The Watford goalkeeper didn’t seem so excited about his compatriot: “He will come as an ordinary player, but with the possibility of being the greatest talent. Today, in English football, a player of this price isn’t so fawned as before.”
