Last Monday, we covered claims from the Italian media which stated West Ham United have a keen interest in Aston Villa’s Jhon Durán, who is also on AC Milan’s radar.
Five days ago, Area Napoli said the striker is about to leave Aston Villa for the Hammers. It was also reported Unai Emery’s side are expected to collect a fee around £37m.
The Aston Villa player’s agent, Jonathan Herrera, has now confirmed West Ham’s interest, and his comments are relayed by AS in Colombia.
“There is great interest from West Ham, we have been talking to them and the club. We are going to see what happens in the rest of the market,” he said.
The 20-year-old’s representative also manages Watford’s Yaser Asprilla. The agent claims the two players have attracted interest from clubs across Europe, and a decision has to be made by both.
“In the end there has been a lot of interest from several clubs in Europe for players, but we are trying to manage this in the best way for the clubs. There is still time left in the market and we are going to make the best decision,” Herrera explained.
According to AS, Julen Lopetegui’s side have also held talks with Aston Villa over a deal for the Colombia international.
He’s struggled to have a prominent role under Emery’s orders since joining Aston Villa in January 2023. To put it in context, the South American clocked in 1,229 minutes from 49 games for the Villans.
Durán is ‘waiting to define’ his future and whether he will join West Ham this summer remains to be seen.
