On Wednesday, Jhon Durán’s agent Jonathan Herrera revealed that West Ham United have shown great interest in the Aston Villa player.

Later that day, the striker said he’s flattered with Aston Villa exit links, and is waiting for something concrete to happen this summer.

There has been a development as Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report that West Ham have made progress to take him away from Aston Villa.

In fact, the journalist says the 20-year-old is ‘close’ to becoming a new West Ham player.

Sierra states Julen Lopetegui’s side already have a ‘verbal agreement’ with Aston Villa to sign the Colombia international for £35m.

He adds the deal is expected to be finalised in the ‘near future’, once the documentation and other formalities related to the transfer are sorted out.

Unai Emery hasn’t relied heavily upon the South American since he arrived at Villa Park from MLS side Chicago Fire in January 2023. If Durán were to complete a move to West Ham, he will hope to have more minutes that he had at Aston Villa.
