Everton and West Ham continue to be linked to the Inter Milan striker Gabriel Barbosa. This time, the latest news come from the Brazilian media.
As the player has spent the past year on loan at Santos, the club is still hopeful they could find a deal with Inter Milan to keep him for longer.
Santos president José Carlos Peres spoke about the situation on Tuesday, saying the club could offer Inter Milan the priority to buy some of their players in exchange for Gabigol.
“He might want to stay, he knows the way home. If he gets to a value that we can… He was sold for R$88m. First year on the bench, second year with us. No one in Brazilian football, except Palmeiras and Flamengo, has money to pay.”
“What we offer most is priority. As Santos is a player maker, I can pay an amount and give them priority,” said Peres (Gazeta Press news agency via Fox Sports).
But it’s well known that Inter Milan won’t let Gabigol go for little, and that’s why a move to an European side continues being the most likely plan for his future.
Gazeta Press then writes that the Premier League is the ‘likely’ destination for Gabigol, where Everton and West Ham have ‘already shown interest’. They say Inter Milan want to negotiate his sale as they have no further spots for foreigners in the squad.
As the Brazilian league ends next weekend, it’s likely that Gabigol will finally be free to focus on his future from next Monday.
