Newcastle star Georginio Wijnaldum is subject to transfer interest from several clubs, with Tottenham thrown into the mix as well.
A week ago, English newspaper The Mirror ran the story ‘Georginio Wijnaldum to beg Newcastle to let him join Tottenham’.
According to a latest report on Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Tottenham are interested in Wijnaldum, and Newcastle are aware of it.
Tottenham, however, face competition from Everton and Liverpool. The player is reportedly keen on signing for the Anfield club, but is open to offers from elsewhere.
De Telegraaf explain that competition for places would be tougher at Tottenham, but they say Wijnaldum isn’t scared of that and is confident he could get into the team.
At the moment, it appears Wijnaldum is likely to consider any offer that allows him to leave the Championship club.
Newcastle United are hoping clubs like Tottenham firm up their interest and make an approach, allowing an auction situation to develop. However, that doesn’t sound like something Spurs would be keen on.
