Nicolo Barella came up through the ranks of Cagliari’s youth system before making his way into their first team.

He spent the 2015/16 season on loan at Como and since then, he has been a regular inclusion in his side’s starting XI, making 56 starts in the last two seasons and has played every minute in the league this campaign.

The 21-year-old’s form has not gone unnoticed, and according to Het Nieuwsblad, the player is attracting interest from AS Roma, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Liverpool.

He was cautioned 13 times in the league last season and the Belgian newspaper have labeled him ‘pitbull in the midfield’ after drawing comparisons to Radja Nainggolan, who spent four years at Cagliari from 2010 to 2014.

Barella has already expressed his love towards the English football and admitted that he would prefer a move to the Premier League over joining other Italian clubs in the future.

It’s claimed Liverpool ‘have an edge’ over other clubs because of the player’s desire to meet the Reds shareholder and Los Angeles Lakers star Lebron James.
