Keeping 11 clean sheets in 38 games, conceding 48 in the other 27, Marin Dubravka had a fairly solid first full season at Newcastle following his £3.6m move from Sparta Prague in the summer.

The 30-year-old played a key role in the Magpies’ season, yet there are now rumblings in France that Rafa Benitez could bring in another goalkeeper for next season in Kevin Trapp.

The three time Germany international, still contracted to Paris Saint-Germain, spent the 2018-19 season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, whom he helped reach the Europa League semi-finals, where they eventually lost on penalties to Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea.

However, with no option to buy, the 28-year-old is set to return to the Parc des Princes in the summer, where an exit could be on the cards, according to Paris United.

The French website claim Pini Zahavi, who has a huge influence at the Ligue 1 champions, has ‘an opening’ at Newcastle United for Trapp, although there is still the possibility of a renewal should Gianluigi Buffon call a day on his time in France.

Everything appears up in the air still, which means we’ll have to wait and see what the former Juventus legend has in mind first.

One to keep an eye on.
