Just over an hour ago, Sport Witness brought the news that as far as Alavés are concerned, Carlos Vicente to Birmingham City is finalised.
On Monday morning, the winger was all set to fly to England and go through his transfer process. That came after a weekend in which the Championship club and Ajax went head to head.
After a battle to convince the winger, the Blues came out on top.
Vicente played for the Basque club on Sunday evening, scoring the first goal in a 2-1 victory over Real Betis. He was named Man of the Match, got a standing ovation, heard fans begging him to stay, and appeared to say his goodbyes afterwards.
Birmingham City are expected to part with €8m as an initial fee. There’s a potential further €2m for Alavés, depending on appearances and achievements.
Carlos Vicente has now been pictured at the airport, shortly before he boarded a flight to the UK. Alavés fans have asked the person who posted the image to kidnap the 26-year-old and stop him leaving. However, it was too late, with Vicente catching a 5pm flight.
The next step will be a medical, and that could take place on Tuesday.
