Philippe Clement’s situation at Rangers continues to be something of a rollercoaster ride. At one point it can be suggested he may be edged out of Ibrox and at another he’s linked, seemingly on a weekly basis, with the vacancy at the Belgian national side.

The rumours about the Belgium job come up frequently and are then talked down within 24 hours or so each time. Julen Lopetegui, who was recently shown the door by West Ham, is the current big name being linked with the role.

Infobal.cz report Václav Černý staying at Rangers beyond the current season could be deponent on Clement remaining in charge of the Scottish Premiership club.

The 27-year-old arrived on loan from VfL Wolfsburg in the summer and has scored 12 goals in 33 matches, adding seven assists along the way.

Infobal.cz cover claims from elsewhere of West Ham being keen to snatch him from Rangers’ clutches next summer, something they’ve not been able to confirm. They report, according to their own information, that Espanyol and Las Palmas were keen last summer but Rangers pushed ahead. Whilst there’s been links with Villarreal, no talks have taken place.

According to the report, Clement would like to keep Černý and would be happy for Rangers to pay a lot for him, however, the big doubt is seen as whether the manager will be in position to make that decision.
