Towards the end of the January transfer window, Leeds still had Jesse Marsch as their manager, and Weston McKennie was brought in on loan from Juventus.
The deal included an option to buy, which the Elland Road could trigger as long as they were safe from relegation back down to the Championship and he made a certain number of appearances.
The problem for Leeds at the moment, however, is that they are 19th in the Premier League with 15 games to go, and have put all their eggs in the Javi Gracia basket to try and save themselves.
Whether the Spanish manager pulls it off, only time will tell, but there is a worry in Italy that the American midfielder could head back to Turin.
On top of the Whites avoiding the drop, he also has to make ‘at least 10 appearances’ before the end of the season, but that part is well on its way, as he’s already played four times since his arrival.
That could, of course, change under Javi Gracia, who might not count on him as much as Michael Skubala did.
Therefore, the full transfer of McKennie seems to entirely rest on what the Spaniard has planned at Elland Road in the coming months, as well as on his ability to get positive results quickly to climb away from the relegation zone.
